MATERIALS & WAREHOUSE SUPERVISOR

Covington, Tennessee | Reports to Production Planning Manager

Position Summary

The Materials & Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for the safe, accurate, and efficient operation of the plant warehouse and material handling functions. This position leads the employees responsible for receiving, storing, handling, staging, and moving ingredients and packaging materials while supporting the transfer of finished goods to the Distribution Center.

The Materials & Warehouse Supervisor works closely with Production Planning, Material Planning, Production, Quality & Food Safety, Purchasing, and Inventory Control to ensure materials are available when needed and that physical inventory is accurately reflected in Oracle EBS.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the day-to-day operation of the plant warehouse and material handling activities.
  • Supervise, coach, and develop warehouse and material handling employees.
  • Ensure ingredients and packaging materials are received, identified, stored, rotated, staged, and delivered to Production accurately and on time.
  • Coordinate the loading and transfer of finished goods from the plant to the Distribution Center.
  • Maintain accurate inventory through disciplined receiving, material issue, return, transfer, and storage practices.
  • Partner with Production Planning and Inventory Control to investigate inventory discrepancies and improve inventory accuracy.
  • Ensure proper lot control, traceability, FIFO/FEFO practices, material status identification, and storage requirements.
  • Maintain effective warehouse organization, housekeeping, GMP, food safety, and pest-control standards.
  • Ensure material handling equipment is operated safely and employees follow established safety procedures.
  • Coordinate with Quality & Food Safety regarding held, rejected, damaged, or otherwise restricted materials.
  • Identify opportunities to improve warehouse layout, material flow, labor utilization, inventory accuracy, and material handling efficiency.
  • Support physical inventories, cycle counts, and inventory reconciliation activities as required.

Qualifications

  • Previous supervisory or leadership experience in warehousing, materials, logistics, or manufacturing.
  • Experience in a manufacturing or distribution environment.
  • Strong understanding of inventory control, receiving, warehousing, and material movement processes.
  • Experience with ERP or warehouse management systems; Oracle EBS experience is preferred.Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to lead employees in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Working knowledge of workplace safety, material handling, and inventory accuracy practices.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in food manufacturing or another regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of GMP and food safety requirements.
  • Experience with lot-controlled materials and traceability.
  • Experience with cycle counting and inventory reconciliation.
  • Forklift and material handling equipment experience.
  • Experience leading warehouse continuous-improvement initiatives.

Leadership Profile

The successful candidate will be a visible, hands-on leader who establishes clear expectations for safety, inventory accuracy, material handling, and employee performance.

This individual must be able to balance the immediate material needs of Production with the discipline required to maintain accurate inventory and an organized warehouse operation.

The objective is straightforward: the right material, in the right quantity, in the right location, at the right time—with an accurate inventory record to support it.
