What are the responsibilities and job description for the Chimney Technician level 1 - Level 3 position at Charm City Honey Bees?
Level 1 Technician
- Authorized to perform Level I inspections (visual, accessible areas only).
- Always includes a full cleaning of the chimney/flue.
- Identify visible safety issues, blockages, or creosote buildup.
- Document findings with photos for customer records.
- Assist higher-level technicians on complex inspections or repairs.
- Perform basic handyman work: drywall patching, painting, small carpentry tied to chimney services.
Requirements:
- 1–3 years of chimney/fireplace experience.
- Entry-level chimney experience (training provided).
- Ability to use ladders, hand tools, and OSHA safety equipment.
- Customer service mindset.
- MHIC license a plus.
Level 2 Technician
- Perform both Level I and Level II inspections:
- Level I: visual cleaning.
- Level II: video scan, attic/basement checks, appliance connections cleaning.
- Execute minor repairs: damper adjustments, chimney caps, waterproofing, and small masonry patching.
- Prepare inspection reports and explain results to customers.
- Support senior technicians with larger repairs or rebuilds.
- Perform handyman work: drywall finishing, painting, trim around chimney/fireplace work.
Requirements:
- 3 or more years of chimney/fireplace/HVAC/handyman trade experience.
- Skilled in drywall, painting, and repair finish work.
- Familiarity with video inspection tools and OSHA safety.
- Good communication skills to explain findings.
- MHIC license a plus.
