Duties

  • Assist patients with intake procedures, including collecting medical histories and verifying insurance information in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Operate ophthalmic diagnostic imaging equipment like NCT, and auto-refractor to facilitate comprehensive eye examinations.
  • Conduct preliminary tests including eye refraction, visual acuity assessments, and ocular motility evaluations to prepare patients for the ophthalmologist’s review.
  • Maintain strict aseptic techniques during procedures to ensure patient safety and uphold clinical confidentiality policies.
  • Manage electronic health records (EHR/EHR) systems efficiently, documenting exam results, patient notes, and medical records accurately.
  • Support the clinical team with administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, verifying insurance coverage, and maintaining medical records.

Experience

  • Prior experience working in a medical office environment or ophthalmology clinic is highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy related to the eye, and physiology principles relevant to ophthalmic care.
  • Familiarity with ophthalmic diagnostic imaging equipment and medical equipment operation is advantageous.
  • Experience with EMR/EHR management systems and electronic health records is essential for accurate documentation.
  • Strong patient service skills with a focus on direct patient care, confidentiality, and professionalism.
  • Retail sales experience or familiarity with optical products can be beneficial for understanding patient needs related to eyewear.
  • Ability to follow clinical confidentiality policies diligently while supporting a fast-paced healthcare setting.

Pay: $18.00 - $25.00 per hour
