What are the responsibilities and job description for the U18 Professional Development Phase (PDP) Coach position at Charlton Athletic Community Trust?
Play your part in maintaining the club’s rich tradition of producing 1st Team players from our Academy. As the PDP U18 Coach, you will support the Lead Coach in the daily coaching creation, delivery and monitoring of the U18 PDP Squad. Ensuring the highest level of coaching delivery, you will help maximise the development of every player in the squad.
Essential Desirable
UEFA A License (Must be completed!)

A minimum of 3 years working experience within a professional football club academy with players 15 years old

FA Youth Award
ü
Experienced in the use of Microsoft Products
ü
Competent user of software such as Hudl, Kitman Labs, Teamworks
ü
Confident presenter and communicator with groups
ü
Inquisitive with a passion to prioritise player development
ü
Experienced in the design, implementation and monitoring of coaching content that stimulates players and supports their long-term development
ü
Emergency First Aid In Football (EFAiF) qualification
ü
Valid and Enhanced FA DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service) Check- Club to undertake this
ü
Flexibility to work evening and Saturday games
ü
Valid FA Safeguarding Certificate
ü
Right to Work in the UK
ü
Advanced Youth Award (Professional Phase)

Ex professional footballer

Strong knowledge of the EPPP framework
ü
- To support the daily training delivery for the U18 Scholar programme in line with the Academy Coaching Curriculum
- Ensure each players Individual Development Plan (IDP) meets their needs and is regularly evaluated to ensure their development is maximised
- Act as a mentor to the young players, ensuring their emotional needs are supported
- Support regular player reviews through critical performance evaluation against Academy Playing and Coaching Philosophies
- Collaborate with the Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) to ensure each U18 players holistic skil-set is enhanced
- To ensure all Football Intelligence Platform (Kit Man Labs) logs and communications are kept up to date
- Communicate with U21 Coaching Staff to ensure strong information pathways exist for players moving between U18 and U21 squadsSupport the tactical assessment of U18 games in conjunction with other key staff
- To represent the Academy PDP department in wider academy staff meetings
- Ensure evidence-based and research-backed decision making is at the forefront of daily discussions and practices
- Maintain the safety and welfare of all players (Fit and injured)
- Form relationships with external bodies and organisations and have the curiosity to remain at the forefront of innovation , professional regulations and drive positive change in working practices
- Take responsibility for personal CPD to ensure qualifications remain active and retain records for this
- Ensure high levels of professionalism and player support at all times
