What are the responsibilities and job description for the Hospitalist Advanced Practice Provider position at Charlotte Gastroenterology & Hepatology?
Charlotte Gastro is seeking a dedicated inpatient weekend Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our team. In this role you will be responsible for providing inpatient gastroenterology care, including consults and ongoing patient management in coordination with the attending physician.
Flexible scheduling options available. Work schedules are open to discussion and may include weekends, a 7-on/7-off rotation, or other mutually agreed-upon arrangements.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs comprehensive and problem-focused histories and physical examinations
- Interprets laboratory and diagnostic tests
- Interprets and correlates subjective and objective data
- Formulates a differential diagnosis and establishes a working diagnosis
- Develops a treatment plan for gastrointestinal conditions within the scope of practice and in conjunction with the physician
- Implements therapeutic intervention for specific conditions where appropriate
- Exercises judgment on conditions requiring consultation, referral or evaluation by the supervising gastroenterologist or other healthcare professionals
EDUCATION: Master’s degree or higher from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program (AGACNP preferred for inpatient acute care) OR an accredited Physician Assistant program.
LICENSURE: Active, unrestricted state license as an NP or PA, or eligibility to obtain one.
CERTIFICATIONS: National board certification (AANP, ANCC, or NCCPA). Active BLS and ACLS certifications. Valid DEA registration.
EXPERIENCE: Preferred instead of minimum? Minimum of 1–2 years of dedicated Advanced Practice experience in Gastroenterology, Hepatology, or Inpatient Acute Care Medicine. Highly experienced candidates with a strong interest in GI will be considered.
