Qualifications: (Inclusive of federal guidelines as they pertain to Head Start positions)
High school diploma and current Preschool CDA or equivalent state/national certification, or willingness to obtain within one (1) year
Experience working with preschool children
Ability to pass health screening, including tuberculosis test, per Head Start Performance Standards
Preferred Qualifications:
Current Infant/Child First Aid and CPR and certification or willingness to obtain within 60 days
Valid Florida driver’s license and insurance
*Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate.
Performance Responsibilities:
Assists in developing and implementing appropriate instructional plans and individualized learning experiences for 3 – 5-year-olds as prescribed by program curricula.
Establishes and maintains learning environments that meet all applicable state and federal health and safety standards.
Assists in gathering, evaluating and utilizing ongoing child development assessment data.
Engages families in program activities by maintaining ongoing and open communication, including participation in conferences and home visits.
Meets all state and federal record-keeping and recording requirements.
Assists in implementing prescribed, individualized support, behavior and/or learning plans.
Practices positive child behavior and management techniques in the classroom.
Participates in requisite professional development activities.
Supports and supervises classroom volunteers and interns.
Maintains relevant, ongoing and open communication with coworkers and supervisory staff.
Works closely with partnering community agencies to provide quality, seamless services.
Performs assigned duties related to student safety on campus.
Performs other duties related to the job goal as directed.
