General Description:
Our Tennis Professionals are courteous and service-oriented, with our primary focus on providing the best possible experience for our membership during instruction, events, and daily interactions. While a strong tennis background is preferred, successful tenure at Charlotte Country Club will be a result of excellent teamwork, a positive attitude, and professionalism.
Essential Functions:
- Teach ladies’ practices and camps, junior program, men’s night, summer camps, and all other lesson requests that can be fulfilled; each coach teaches all levels and all ages of tennis players
- Remain highly organized, with both lesson book and online schedule kept up to date
- Assist in the preparation and execution of all tennis events
- Share responsibilities with other coaches to both organize and run the weekly Sunday Junior USTA matches
- Share responsibilities with other coaches to check in and/or greet all groups that come to play
- Observe any maintenance needs and to be hands-on in daily court and facility maintenance as needed
- Be prepared and knowledgeable of all facets of the tennis operations, and capable of opening, running, or closing down the tennis facility if needed
- Share responsibilities with other coaches to contribute to tennis-related club communication and publications
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- NTRP rating of 4.5 or higher, background as a tennis instructor, or recent experience on a varsity college tennis team
- A college degree is preferred
- High attention to detail
- Strong communication (both written and verbal) and listening skills
- Excellent teamwork and understanding of hospitality and personal service
- Professional appearance
Hours/Schedule:
Depending on the season, this position works 40-50 hours per week. The staff works together to coordinate regular days off, vacation requests, weekend coverage, and event coverage. There will be occasional 7-day work weeks. This position receives an hourly rate at all times in addition to commissions earned from lessons and programs. There is no limit to how much you can teach.
