Irrigation Technician
Location: North Charleston, SC | Full-Time

Charleston Grounds Management is seeking a skilled and dependable Irrigation Technician to join our growing team. Compensation & Schedule
- Pay: Competitive, based on experience and production performance
- Work Schedule: Monday through Thursday (4-day workweek)
- Some Fridays required as make-up days or during peak season
- Full-time, year-round employment
Key Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostics and repair of commercial irrigation systems (90% service / 10% install)
- Troubleshoot and repair both 2-wire and conventional systems
- Use volt meters and wire tracing tools to identify electrical issues
- Install and program 2-wire decoders and flow meters
- Adjust and program a variety of controllers, including smart systems
- Clean and replace valves, solenoids, and diaphragms as needed
- Perform pipe repairs, including lateral and mainline breaks
- Ensure system coverage and performance through inspections and adjustments
- Conduct seasonal system start-ups and winterizations
- Maintain accurate work documentation using mobile devices or forms
- Communicate clearly with supervisors about job progress, parts needed, and issues
- Keep tools, truck, and equipment organized and well-maintained
- Follow all safety procedures and company standards
- Inspect backflows (classes provide it not certified)
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in commercial irrigation repair
- Strong working knowledge of pumps, valves and wiring.
- Skilled in using volt meters, wire locators, and diagnostic tools
- Familiar with flow meter and decoder installation and programming
- Ability to interpret irrigation plans and layouts
- Highly organized, self-directed, and comfortable managing a service route with ability to work by yourself
- Professional communication and customer service skills
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
Physical Requirements
- Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Physically fit to dig, lift 50 lbs, kneel, and perform manual labor for extended periods
- Capable of operating trenchers, saws, and other small machinery
