What are the responsibilities and job description for the Part-Time Farm to School Coordinator position at Charleston Elementary School?
The Charleston Elementary School, a PK-8 school of approximately 130 students, strives to prepare all students for the lifelong process of learning, empowering them with confidence, empathy, competence, and civic responsibility. The Charleston Elementary School is seeking a part-time Farm to School Coordinator, up to 5 hours per week, to facilitate a program that connect students with local agriculture and healthy eating. Responsibilities include managing the school gardens and greenhouse, coordinating the sourcing of local foods for school meals, and developing experiential, hands-on learning experiences for students.
Minimum qualifications:
•Minimum of an Associate’s degree preferred.
•Background in farming, harvesting, landscaping or science preferred.
•Strong organizational, inter-personal, verbal and written communication skills to facilitate workshops, teaching sessions, etc.
•Creativity and flexibility in order to personalize their learning approach for individual students.
This is a school session position. Previous experience preferred.
