Medical Receptionist – Urgent Care / Direct Primary Care
Established private practice seeking a professional, dependable Medical Receptionist to support our Urgent Care and Direct Primary Care clinic. This role is critical to maintaining efficient front-office operations in a fast-paced, patient-focused environment. We are looking for a team member who demonstrates initiative, accountability, flexibility, and a strong commitment to professionalism.
Responsibilities
- Greet and check in patients for urgent and primary care visits using Athenahealth
- Schedule same-day urgent care and ongoing primary care appointments efficiently and accurately
- Verify insurance for urgent care visits and coordinate membership-based DPC patients
- Collect copays, process payments, and address billing questions with accuracy
- Maintain precise patient records in compliance with HIPAA standards
- Answer multi-line phones with professionalism and manage patient inquiries promptly
- Support patient intake, appointment reminders, and daily administrative tasks
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and presentation of the lobby, reception desk, and shared front office areas
- Contribute to overall clinic workflow and assist team members as needed to ensure smooth daily operations
Qualifications
- Prior medical office experience strongly preferred
- Knowledge of medical terminology and basic CPT/ICD-10 coding
- Experience with EMR/EHR systems (Athenahealth preferred)
- Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask in a high-volume setting
- Excellent communication skills and consistent professional demeanor
- Self-motivated, reliable, and able to work independently
- Willingness to adapt to evolving clinic needs, schedules, and patient volumes
- Team-oriented mindset with a positive, solutions-focused approach
