What are the responsibilities and job description for the Law Enforcement Records Specialist II - Temp position at Charleston County Government?
This position is assigned to the Criminal Investigation Division – Sexual Offender Registry.
This responsible position performs a variety of specialized clerical and record keeping functions.
HIRING HOURLY RANGE: $20.59 - $24.40
This temporary position is limited to three (3) days a week at 8 hours per day.
THIS IS A TEMPORARY POSITION AND THERE ARE NO BENEFITS ASSOCIATED WITH THIS TEMPORARY POSITION.
APPLICATION DEADLINE: SUNDAY JANUARY 25, 2026.
Duties include, but are not limited to: maintaining the status and updating the Sexual Offender Registrants’ files, accurately completing registration documents both digitally and in written form. Position also involves entering and retrieving data from RMS and NCIC systems and assisting and disseminating accurate data to requesting individuals or agencies. This position involves personal contact with the public and other governmental agencies. Other duties include typing, data entry, and filing. Duties will be performed on an 8 hour day schedule.
REQUIREMENTS: A qualified applicant must (1) be a U. S. citizen, (2) possess a high school diploma or GED (3) be able to obtain NCIC certification within six months of selection (4) able to accurately perform clerical tasks of a repetitive nature (5) be able to operate a personal computer using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access), the internet, JMS, RMS, and NCIC (7) and be able to interact with all individuals in a professional and courteous manner at all times.
