2026 Summer Internship Program
Dates: June 1-July 2, 2026
The College Student Internship provides qualified students with practical work experience that complements their academic course work, as well as course credit (if approved by the college or university). The College Student Internship is designed to provide students studying Criminal Justice with an opportunity to integrate theory and practice. The internship is a paid, non-sworn position that carries from 8 hours to 24 hours per week, as agreed upon by the Charleston Count Sheriff’s Office, intern, and college/university (if applicable). Students gain valuable work experience, on-the-job training, and have an opportunity to develop a professional networking base for future positions in government service or law enforcement. All the requirements must be agreed to by the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office, the intern applicant, and the college/university (if applicable) before the internship starts.
As an intern your essential job function will be to learn, assist and complete tasks in the areas of Operations Division, Investigations Division, Judicial Division and the Administrative Services Division and earn $20.00 an hour.
Please know that all assessments will be scheduled with the internship candidate and the CCSO schedules in mind.
