RESIDENT COUNSELOR
Full-Time/Part Time
Supervisor: IRA Coordinator
Pay Rate - $18 - $22 per hour, commensurate with experience.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Complete, assist, train or supervise individuals in the activities of daily living including various household tasks (cooking, laundry, cleaning etc.).
Facilitate recreational group activities for residents in the program and community ensuring resident participation.
Ensure that supervision levels of residents are maintained and followed at all times.
Attend to personal, self-care and other needs of the residents as needed must be able to lift or bear weight up to 100 lbs.
Transport residents to community activities in agency vehicle.
Work directly with the residents in the implementation of their Life Plan.
Assist therapeutic and nursing staff by providing hands on assistance or feedback whenever necessary.
Maintain written records of goals and resident interactions and reports on a daily basis.
Participate in cleaning and general maintenance of the residence, including organization, decorating, laundry, bed making and meal preparation etc.
Attended all trainings and staff meetings as directed by supervisor.
Perform any related duties requested by the supervisor.
Performs all duties according to the highest ethical and moral standards and in adherence with the facility's corporate compliance plan and all applicable governing laws.
Qualifications:High-school diploma or equivalent required
6 months experience working in an OPWDD setting preferred
Ability to obtain and maintain OPWDD medication administration certification
Current NYS driver's license Approved Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) review and ability to drive agency vehicles
Must pass a criminal background check and drug test
