Senior Buyer – Manufacturing
The Senior Buyer is responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and managing materials, components, and services needed to support manufacturing operations. This role works closely with suppliers, production, engineering, and inventory teams to ensure quality, cost, and delivery expectations are consistently met.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage purchasing activities for assigned commodities and suppliers
- Negotiate pricing, delivery terms, and contracts with vendors
- Monitor inventory levels and place purchase orders to support production schedules
- Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships
- Evaluate supplier performance related to quality, cost, and delivery
- Collaborate with manufacturing, engineering, and planning teams on material requirements and product changes
- Identify cost-saving and process improvement opportunities
- Resolve supply chain and delivery issues in a timely manner
- Maintain accurate purchasing records and ERP system data
- Support continuous improvement and strategic sourcing initiatives
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, or related field required
- 5 years of purchasing or procurement experience in a manufacturing environment
- Experience negotiating with suppliers and managing International vendor relationships
- Strong understanding of ERP/MRP systems
- Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with strategic sourcing or commodity management
- APICS, CPM, CPSM, or related certification preferred
- Experience supporting lean manufacturing environments
