Your Opportunity
We are looking for a seasoned Design Systems Leader who will work on a cross-functional leadership team to build, deploy, and scale Schwab’s digital design system. We are on a journey to build the future of financial services. We help our clients plan for their future and they are passionate about the tools and experiences we provide. You will:
- Lead a team of designers and design leaders
- Define the cross-platform (iOS, Android, Web) design system that drives our client- and advisor-facing experiences
- Work with engineering teams to understand their perspectives and needs, and inform the implementation and adoption strategy of the design system
- Work in collaboration with other designer leaders, product leaders, and technology leaders to build the components, features, and guidelines we need to deliver the best experience to our clients
- Impact the evolution of our digital experience by influencing the operating model that our digital teams adopt
- Maintain a horizontal view of the product experience to identify opportunities for greater consistency, efficiency, and quality through the design system
What you are good at
- Providing thought partnership, direction and design solutions with a multi-faceted team, taking into account how digital, physical, and service channels work together
- Facilitating collaborative design sessions including sketching and ideation, both remote and/or in-person
- Effectively partnering with product, technology and business stakeholders, leading design reviews with teams and driving decision making
- Being a systems thinking who has can pay attention to detail while considering the end-to-end experience
- Visualizing ideas in a clear form (sketch, diagram, wireframe or prototype) and provide appropriate level of documentation
- Presenting with executive presence including data backed decisions and rationale (analytics, research, usability studies, etc)
- Managing and mentoring a team of designers to grow the team’s capabilities and impact within the organization
- Bringing teams together to resolve issues and deal with any necessary escalations in an appropriate manner.
- Being able to present a vision while leading a team through execution
- Demonstrating ongoing improvement as a learner and is proactive or goes beyond role definitions
What you have
- Very strong collaboration and influencing skills
- 3 years of experience working on or with fully-featured design systems that encompass shared design libraries with coded counterparts, or extensive experience designing modular/component-based consumer experiences
- Experience working in a collaborative multi-disciplinary team within an iterative process and an Agile development methodology
- 10 years of design experience, focused on digital products
- Experienced with all aspects of a user-centered interaction design process, including user research, user flows, wireframes, usability testing, and annotated design specifications
- Ability to communicate complex messages and trade-offs and tell a compelling story
- Strong self-management skills, comfortable with substantial responsibility, working directly with our client partners, and capable of managing your project schedules
- Proficient in design tools like Figma, Mural, InVision, Sketch, Axure, etc.
- Experience running design sessions with cross-functional teams
- Comfort in a project-oriented work environment, with a positive attitude and solid work ethic
Salary : $116,100 - $258,100
