Live Audio and Video Production Engineer
Charles River Media provides in-studio and on-location video production, post production, and live streaming services for corporate, commercial, education, and nonprofit clients. We are hiring a Live Production Engineer with proficiency in both audio and video systems to play a key role in delivering high-quality live and recorded productions.
The ideal candidate is solutions-oriented and comfortable owning critical pieces of a production from setup through execution. We provide hands-on, on-the-job training and mentorship, with opportunities to expand technical skills across audio, video, and streaming workflows. Reports to Senior Technical Producer.
**Main Roles**
Position requires regular presence at our office and studio in Needham Heights, MA and at off-site production locations.
*Audio Engineering*
- Setup and operation of professional audio systems for live and broadcast environments
- Configure digital consoles, manage gain structure, routing, and mix integrity
- Deploy and manage wireless microphones, IFB, and communications systems
- Support FOH and/or broadcast mixes depending on production needs
- Proactively troubleshoot signal flow, RF, and connectivity issues in real time
- Support field audio recording workflows (boom, lavs, mixer/recorder) for interviews
*Video & Streaming Production*
- Support and operate multi-camera productions
- Operate or assist with professional video switchers (ATEM vMix)
- Integrate graphics, playback systems, and presentation content seamlessly
- Configure hardware/software encoders and manage RTMP and SRT streaming workflows
- Monitor stream quality, platform stability, and audio/video synchronization
- Support hybrid and virtual productions including remote presenters
*Additional*
- Build clean, organized signal chains across audio, video, data, and power
- Prepare and maintain organized equipment and inventory
- Communicate clearly with producers, crew, and clients throughout production
- Maintain high technical, organizational, and execution standards
**Requirements**
- 2–4 years experience in live production, broadcast, or AV environments
- Strong working knowledge of audio and video signal flow
- Experience supporting live streaming and hybrid event workflows
- Ability to troubleshoot confidently in fast-paced, live environments
- Ability to manage multiple productions and timelines simultaneously
- Ability to lift 50 pounds
- Valid driver's license and willingness to occasionally drive company production van
- Availability for occasional nights, weekends, and travel
**Would Be Nice**
- Familiarity with Dante AoIP workflows
- Experience with Allen & Heath SQ5 and SQ6 audio consoles and Shure Wireless mics
- Experience with camera operating (traditional and PTZ)
**Compensation**
- Salary starting at $58,000, commensurate with experience
