What are the responsibilities and job description for the Portfolio Manager - North American Power position at Charles Levick Limited?
Some trading platforms give you capital.
Others give you information.
This opportunity gives you both.
We're working with a well-capitalised trading platform that's continuing to invest heavily across North American power. Alongside a growing speculative business, the firm is making a significant investment in its physical power platform, creating a market environment where strong trading ideas are supported by real market intelligence and infrastructure.
The mandate is straightforward: generate returns.
Whether your edge is in PJM, ERCOT, MISO, SPP, CAISO, NYISO or ISO-NE isn't important. What matters is that you've consistently demonstrated the ability to deploy meaningful risk, generate attractive returns and adapt as markets evolve. Experience across natural gas is advantageous, but not essential.
Beyond running your own speculative book, you'll play an important role in helping shape the evolution of the trading business, mentoring junior traders and contributing to the wider investment process.
What you'll bring
- A proven track record of generating consistent returns in North American financial power markets
- Experience managing $1M VaR with a history of producing 6x returns on deployed risk
- A clearly defined trading process and the conviction to execute it
- Expertise across one or more North American ISOs
- Experience across financial power products including FTRs, congestion, virtuals, basis, spreads and other speculative strategies
- The ability to lead, collaborate and help build a high-performing trading team
The platform
- A 100% speculative mandate
- Significant autonomy to deploy capital where you have an edge
- Backing from a business investing heavily in both financial and physical power
- Access to market insight generated by a rapidly expanding physical platform
- Competitive base salary with a meaningful share of the P&L you generate
- The opportunity to help build one of the premier North American power trading businesses
This is a role for someone who wants the freedom of a hedge fund environment, backed by the depth, information and long-term commitment of a business investing heavily in the North American power markets.
