This is highly skilled work in the installation, configuration, operation, repair, maintenance, troubleshooting, and security management of Local Area and Wide Area Networks within the school system. This position provides support to users in the use of software and personal computers. The work is performed under the supervision of the Technology Department.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree is preferred; Associate degree is desirable in Computer Science or related field. May possess applicable industry certifications and training in Microsoft Windows and / or Cisco, three years of technically progressive responsible work experience in network administration, user and help desk management, application development, wireless, user support, and / or training, which provides the following knowledge, skills, and abilities :
- Knowledge of Microsoft and / or Cisco LAN / WAN networking systems.
- Knowledge of IBM, HP servers, VMWare and Cisco switches and other Cisco equipment highly desirable.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience in configuring Microsoft Windows Server and Microsoft Windows Workstation.
- Ability to read, write, and work from technical blueprints and specifications.
- Ability to maintain adequate records of all work performed.
- Skills in the creation, maintenance and use of IT materials, including cabling and wiring, and diagnostics of hardware and software.
- Ability to comply with all safety rules and regulations established by Charles County Public Schools.
- Experience in troubleshooting relating to the operation of information networks, and networked computer hardware and software systems (Microsoft and Cisco preferred).
- Must possess a valid driver's license and / or commercial driver's license and be eligible for approval to drive a CCPS vehicle, when needed.
- Ability to prepare and deliver oral and written communications to large and small groups as well as individuals.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with others.

ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The environmental factors and / or physical requirements of this position include the following : While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; and the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10-50 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard. The employee frequently is required to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear.
