Anticipated Behavior Interventionist - Washington Elementary

RECEIVES GUIDANCE FROM: Academic Teachers and Counselors

BASIC FUNCTION: Provide campus support to students who are demonstrating behaviors that are impacting the educational environment; to provide support in maintaining safety and providing descalation services for students who demonstrate need.

HIRING SPECIFICATIONS (HS1-18):

Demonstrated Experience or Willingness to Acquire Skills

1. Maintain confidentiality.
2. Take direction and guidance from teachers and building administrators
3. Follow behavior management plans for individual students.
4. Maintain students' daily behavior/academic documentation
5. Assist in the implementation and monitoring of students' Individual Education Plans
6. Assist in maintaining a safe and orderly instructional environment.
7. Clarify and reinforce teacher directions
8. Assist with instruction in the community setting as required.
9. Under teacher direction, implement specific strategies to maintain/increase appropriate behavior and deescalate inappropriate behavior.
10. Lift, carry and correctly position students with physical disabilities
11. Provide support in a sequenced and established protocol
12. Provide initial support to teachers and staff for requested behavior support throughout the campus
13. Be visible and proactive for unexpected behaviors through common area and classroom supervision
14. Provide teaching and instructional support for students who demonstrate unexpected behaviors
15. Collaborate with staff to ensure that needs of students are met
16. Training in CPI or other deescalation techniques
17. Utilization of trauma informed instruction techniques to provide additional support to students
18. Represent Charles City Community Schools effectively in the community, state and nation

ABILITIES (A1): 

This position will require physical demands that include constant standing, walking, and working indoors. There will be frequent bending, stooping, reaching/pushing/pulling, extreme temperatures/humidity, and lifting of 50 pounds. There will be occasional sitting, climbing/stairs, driving, carrying of 25 feet, manual dexterity tasks, and working outdoors 

KNOWLEDGE AND EDUCATION (KE1-4 and KED1-2):

Required:

1. High School Diploma or G.E.D. A
2. Ability to relate to students with disabilities.
3. Ability to carry out duties cooperatively with others.
4. Oral and written communication skills. 

Desired:

1. Successful work or volunteer experience with disabled population
2. Supervisory experience with school age children

SALARY: $20.77/HR
