We are currently seeking a qualified and motivated individual to join our team. CCB is a leading provider of general contracting and construction management services for office, industrial, educational, restaurant/retail, institutional, and faith-based clients in central Indiana. POSITION SUMMARY:
The Controller reports directly to the President and collaborates with various departments across
Charles C. Brandt Construction Co. (CCB). This role oversees the Accounting function and provides
operational support to Project Management and Office Services. The Controller plays a key role in
financial reporting, compliance, strategic planning, and overall business administration, while
contributing to company initiatives, employee development, and benefits administration.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Financial Reporting & Analysis
• Prepare monthly and annual financial statements.
• Analyze financial results and present insights to leadership.
• Ensure timely, accurate reporting in compliance with GAAP or other relevant standards.
Budgeting & Forecasting
• Track monthly performance and analyze variances.
• Collaborate with management to develop budgets and align financial objectives.
Internal Controls & Compliance
• Establish and enhance internal accounting controls.
• Ensure compliance with financial regulations and internal policies.
• Support internal and external audit processes.
• Maintain cybersecurity compliance related to financial systems.
Accounting Operations Oversight
• Manage day-to-day accounting functions, including AP, AR, payroll, and the general ledger.
• Oversee month-end and year-end close processes.
• Reconcile accounts and ensure record accuracy.
• Prepare and post monthly entries for prepaid expenses and fixed asset depreciation.
Insurance Administration
• Coordinate the annual review and renewal of insurance policies (e.g., CGL, CPP, WC).
• Oversee the Workers’ Compensation audit and prepare related documentation.
• Monitor policy compliance and implement provider recommendations.
Cash Flow & Banking
• Manage relationships with banking partners.
• Monitor cash handling practices and ensure proper separation of duties.
• Oversee cash flow, liquidity planning, and fund transfers.
• Recommend strategies to enhance working capital.
Strategic Financial Support
• Provide financial insight for business decision-making.
• Assist with long-term planning and benchmarking.
Team Leadership & Development
• Supervise internal accounting staff or coordinate with external CPA firms.
• Train and mentor Accounting team members.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Systems & Process Improvements
• Recommend enhancements to financial systems and reporting tools.
• Assist with managing accounting software and ERP systems (Vista).
Special Projects
• Coordinate annual financial reviews with external CPA firms.
• Support preparation of corporate tax filings.
• Assist with fundraising, financing, and business development initiatives.
• Conduct forensic accounting or investigate potential fraud.
• Prepare ad hoc financial reports using Excel and Word.
• Review HR and benefits-related documents and invoices
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration with an Accounting
focus.
• Experience in construction accounting is required.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and discretion.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and general office software.
• Comfortable conducting online research and using digital tools.
• Ability to work independently and within a team.
