What are the responsibilities and job description for the Crew Member / Box Truck Driver position at Charles Brothers Inc?
We are looking for an experienced crew member & truck driver to serve our customers in the Poultry Industry in a safe and timely manner. Willing to train new box truck drivers.

Responsibilities
- Transport poultry over land from farms to manufacturing plants and distribution centers
- Inspect vehicles for mechanical items and safety issues and perform preventative maintenance
- Plan routes and meet delivery schedules
- Document and log work/rest periods and miles spent driving and retain fuel/toll receipts
- Comply with truck driving rules and regulations (size, weight, route designations, parking and break periods) as well as with company policies and procedures
- Secure loads for transport
- Pull tarps and secure straps as needed for transport.
- Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions
- Collect and verify loading and delivery instructions
- Report defects, accidents or violations
- Perform on site job duties when not driving to include but not limited to: Equipment cleaning, general repairs to equipment and facilities, facility maintenance, Catching & Loading Poultry.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills
- Proven work experience as a truck driver
- Hands on experience with electronic equipment and software (GPS, AVL units, CB etc)
- Ability to drive long hours and travel regularly
- Extensive knowledge of applicable truck driving rules and regulations
- No recent moving or driving violations
- Adaptability and foresight to handle unexpected situations (traffic, weather conditions etc)
- Valid driving license
- General knowledge to conduct repairs and maintenance on facilities and equipment.
- Knowledge of farm operations and poultry handling preferred.
