Role Description The Direct Support Professional (DSP) is a full-time, on-site role located in Norfolk, VA. This role focuses on supporting individuals with daily living activities, including personal care, meal preparation, medication reminders, and mobility assistance as needed. The DSP helps individuals develop life skills, participate in community activities, and maintain safe, structured routines. Daily tasks include documenting services, monitoring health and behavior changes, following care plans, and communicating effectively with supervisors, healthcare providers, and family members. The role involves maintaining a clean and safe environment, respecting individual preferences, and promoting independence and inclusion in all aspects of life.
Qualifications
- Ability to provide direct personal care and support for daily living activities, including hygiene, nutrition, mobility, and safety.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build trust, collaborate with care teams, and interact respectfully with individuals and families.
- Organizational and documentation skills to follow care plans, record services accurately, and comply with agency and regulatory guidelines.
