What are the responsibilities and job description for the Robotics Field Engineer position at Charge Robotics?
As a Robotics Field Engineer (aka Robotic Factory Operator) at Charge Robotics, you’ll be full-time in the field working on the most critical operation at our company: running, troubleshooting, and improving our robotic factory that installs utility-scale solar farms. You'll work closely with both engineering and field operations teams to deploy a first-of-its-kind robotic solar installation system that will install gigawatts of clean power generation.
What you'll be doing:
Charge Robotics is a Series A startup building robots that build solar farms.
Demand for new solar projects is booming (1 ⁄ 5 of all the solar that exists in the US was installed last year!), but today’s construction companies can’t keep up due to limited labor resources.
We thought this was insane, so we started working on robots to directly address this bottleneck and speed up the world’s transition to renewables.
Charge is a fast-moving company, which means constant opportunities for learning and growth. You’ll have a large impact on the direction of our company, and will be compensated accordingly.
If you are excited to work on interesting problems with direct climate impact, you’re going to fit right in at Charge Robotics.

- Working with the engineering team to improve factory user experience and build efficiency
- Are available for full-time field travel (a per diem stipend will be provided to cover housing and food)
- Have an engineering or technical degree in computer science, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, robotics, mechatronics, or a related field

- Are comfortable doing mechanical troubleshooting of industrial automation hardware such as robotic arms, conveyors, motors, actuators, and more
- Are a critical thinker and fast learner who can operate effectively in tough physical conditions in field and under pressure
