Special Education Teacher (Early Childhood Special Education Preferred)

Central Lake Public Schools is seeking a dedicated, student-centered, and highly qualified Special Education Teacher to join our outstanding educational team. We are looking for an individual who is passionate about supporting students with disabilities, building strong relationships with families, and collaborating with staff to ensure every student reaches their full potential.

Preference will be given to candidates who possess Early Childhood Special Education (ZS) credentials and experience working with young learners.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate.

  • Michigan Special Education endorsement(s) appropriate for the assigned program.

  • Early Childhood Special Education endorsement or eligibility preferred (ZS).

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the Michigan Administrative Rules for Special Education (MARSE) and the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).

  • Ability to develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).

  • Knowledge of Michigan's Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MiMTSS) and evidence-based instructional practices.

  • Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.

  • Ability to establish positive relationships with students, families, and staff.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Provide specialized instruction aligned with each student's Individualized Education Program (IEP).

  • Develop and maintain compliant IEPs in accordance with IDEA, MARSE, and Michigan Department of Education requirements.

  • Collaborate with general education teachers, service providers, and families to ensure appropriate supports and accommodations.

  • Conduct assessments, collect progress-monitoring data, and prepare required reports.

  • Participate in IEP Team meetings and multidisciplinary evaluations.

  • Maintain accurate educational records and documentation.

  • Foster a positive, inclusive learning environment that promotes student success.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Special Education.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in Early Childhood Special Education.

  • Experience with inclusive educational practices.

  • Familiarity with behavior intervention strategies and positive behavioral supports.

  • Experience working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.

Terms of Employment

Salary, benefits, and working conditions will be in accordance with the negotiated Master Agreement and applicable Board of Education policies.
