POSITION SUMMARY
Chapter One is seeking a highly motivated, organized, and dynamic individual to serve as an Instructional Model and Fidelity Coach (also known as an Instructional Coach). This pivotal role supports the delivery of high-quality instruction by guiding and coaching a team of Early Literacy Interventionists (ELIs). The Instructional Coach ensures fidelity to the Chapter One instructional model while cultivating strong, collaborative relationships with school and district partners. This position is ideal for an experienced instructional leader who is deeply committed to early literacy and advancing educational equity.
Role Details
- Job Type: Full-time, Exempt position
- Location: Northern Prince George's County, Baltimore County, Baltimore City, or Northern Washington D.C, Glen Burnie, preferred
- Travel: Daily travel to assigned school sites is required to support and coach ELIs. Occasional domestic travel will be required for team meetings, district engagements, and strategic initiatives.
- Salary: $55,000-$60,000 based on experience and location
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Instructional Leadership & Coaching
- Provide ongoing coaching, modeling, and professional development to a team of Chapter One Early Literacy Interventionists (ELIs), ensuring they are equipped to deliver high-quality instruction.
- Conduct regular site-based observations and individualized feedback sessions to support instructional fidelity and the continuous improvement of ELIs.
- Analyze student progress data, then collaborate with ELIs to review insights, support coaching conversations, and guide strategic instructional planning.
- Support ELIs in addressing instructional challenges, adapting materials, and implementing best practices aligned with the Chapter One model.
Program Implementation & Oversight
- Ensure high-quality and consistent implementation of the Chapter One literacy model across all assigned schools.
- Monitor ELIs’ compliance with the program and reporting requirements
- Participate in Beginning-of-Year, Mid-Year, and End-of-Year review meetings with key stakeholders to present Chapter One's implementation status and impact on student learning.
Partnerships & Communication
- Coordinate with the Senior Director of Instruction and Directors of Customer Success to ensure strategic alignment and support for the local implementation of Chapter One’s instructional model. This includes regular virtual and in-person check-ins, timely written updates, and planning sessions focused on ensuring fidelity to the instructional model, ELI observations, and feedback.
Team Management
- Participate in hiring a team of Chapter One ELIs assigned to partner schools
- Facilitate regular ELI team calls and professional development sessions to promote continuous learning, share best practices, and build a strong ELI community.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree required; education or related field preferred
- At least 2 years of experience in literacy coaching, curriculum design and implementation, staff development, or equivalent
- Knowledge of early literacy instruction and pedagogy
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
- Travel: To support our school sites effectively, this role involves daily travel to schools in and around your assigned region; therefore, reliable transportation is a requirement. Occasional travel outside of the region will also be required for in-person meetings and broader support.
