What are the responsibilities and job description for the Housing Specialist position at Chapman Partnership?
SUMMARY:
The Housing Specialist will assist clients experiencing homelessness by helping clients obtain permanent housing. The Housing Specialist in conjunction with the Community Housing Specialist, Case Managers and external partners/vendors, prepares clients for move-outs to permanent housing throughout Miami-Dade County.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Commitment to the mission, vision, values and guiding principles of Chapman Partnership in empowering our clients to overcome homelessness, and achieve and maintain long-term self-sufficiency.
- Create an environment where clients can feel welcomed, comfortable and supported.
- Develop a working knowledge of available units within the county in conjunction with Community Housing Specialist.
- Facilitate the efficient orderly progression of clients through the CoC and private sector housing placement process.
- Provide clients with sufficient information to be ready to sign leases and comply with lease requirements.
- Coordinate move-out to complete process of out placing clients into affordable permanent housing
- Continuously revise, review and improve delivery of service to our clients.
- Performs other assignments or tasks as deemed necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- G.E.D or High School Diploma or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of three (3) years of practical experience as a case manager in a social services agency or equivalent, or, a minimum of one (1) year practical experience working with permanent housing providers and experience with the housing and rental market in Miami-Dade County.
- Valid driver license (State of Florida), adequate level of car insurance as required by law and clean driving record.
