What are the responsibilities and job description for the Recreation Aide position at Chapin Home for the Aging?
Position Summary:
Recreation Aide/Activity Leader must fulfill the goals and objectives of the Therapeutic Recreation Department in regard to resident rights, care and in the general working philosophy of the Therapeutic Recreation Department, as well as serve to reflect professionally the mission statement of the facility.
Assist in the development, coordination and a wide range of activities for residents to improve functioning, enhances self-esteem, creativity and expression, and provide comfort, reassurance and functions as a member of interdisciplinary Health Care Team in all areas related to Therapeutic Recreation Department.
Qualifications:
- 2 years' experience working with the geriatric population in Art, Music, Dance Therapy or related field prefered
- Proficiency with computer (e)
- Excellent oral and written communication, leadership, time management, decision making and motivation skills (e)
- Able to address the psychosocial needs of residents (e)
- The ability to deal effectively and professionally with emotional residents, visitors or family members (e)
- The ability to relate to geriatric, infirmed and sub-acute population
- Must be able to read, write and speak the English language required, knowledge of other language helpful (e)
- Must have knowledge of diverse programming to meet needs of residents
- Bilingual is a plus
Pay: $20.00 - $21.00 per hour
