Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist
A Nursing and Rehabilitation Center is actively seeking a Director of Recreation to join our dynamic team of professionals !
Position Summary: The primary purpose of your job position is to plan, organize, develop, and direct the overall operation of the Activity Department in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines and regulations, our established policies and procedures, and as may be directed by the Administrator, to assure that an ongoing program of activities is designed to meet, in accordance with the comprehensive assessment, the interest and the physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being of each resident. AS Recreation Director, you are delegated the administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability necessary for carrying out your assigned duties.
Qualifications:
Must possess, as a minimum, a Bachelors Degree, preferably in therapeutic recreation or equivalent.
Must be a qualified therapeutic recreation specialist or an activities professional who is licensed by this state and is eligible for certification as a recreation specialist or as an activities professional; or
Must have, as a minimum, one (1) year experience in a social or recreation program in a health care setting.
Must posses TRD Certification
Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
Must have patience, tact, a cheerful disposition and enthusiasm, as well as be willing to handle residents based on whatever maturity level in which they are currently functioning.
Must possess the ability to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing activity services.
Must be able to relate information concerning a resident’s condition.
Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of other individuals in the workplace.
