What are the responsibilities and job description for the Weekend Horse Barn Help position at Chapel Hill Equestrian?
Chapel Hill Equestrian Centeris seeking experienced horse person for equine care, feeding and barn duties. We are looking for a dependable, responsible, detail-oriented self-starter with excellent horse and people skills to join our team.
Must be available on weekends. Currently shift is 8am to approximately noon.
Paid training.
Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in overseeing the care and well-being of our horses as well as develop relationships with our boarders
You will play a crucial role in maintaining the highest standards of health and well-being for our horses
Duties:
Clean stalls and add bedding
Scrub and refill water buckets
Provide hay
Scrub troughs as needed
Maintaining barn aisles and ensuring everything is clean and orderly
Lifting 50lb feed bags
Working well with other team members and boarders to ensure a well-run, no drama barn
Very important: Reporting any usual behavior that might indicate colic, choke, laminitis, etc. immediately to Barn Manager
Requirements:
Experience in handling and caring for horses
Dependability and positive attitude
General knowledge of horse care, illness, and signs of distress
Willingness to work in all weather
Reliable transportation
Strong work ethic and ability to see what needs to be done
Ability to be 100% responsible for the well-being of multiple horses
