Essential Duties
- Implements lesson plans and instructional activities provided by the regular teacher; develops lesson plans and materials for extended (long-term) assignments as needed.
- Delivers instruction to whole groups, small groups, and individual students to support diverse learning needs.
- Maintains a safe, orderly, and respectful classroom environment that supports student engagement and learning.
- Follows established classroom management expectations and school procedures to promote positive student behavior.
- Utilizes a variety of instructional strategies and resources to support student understanding and participation.
- Monitors student progress and provides feedback consistent with teacher and school expectations.
- Communicates and collaborates with school staff to support continuity of instruction and student success.
- Follows all district policies, school guidelines, and the adopted course of study.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- A minimum of 48 college credit hours is preferred; retired CHCCS educators may submit a valid NC DPI license in lieu of college transcripts
- Candidates without a minimum of 48 college credit hours must complete required pre-service training prior to assignment
- Successful completion of a criminal background check
- Minimum of two professional references, including one from a current or most recent supervisor
- Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards
- Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards
