What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Accountant position at CHAPARRAL BOATS INC?
- The Senior Accountant’s primary responsibilities include:
- Maintaining the general ledger, journal entry processing/reviewing, and preparing data analysis and account reconciliations.
- Being an integral part of the month end close process, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and completeness.
- Reviewing work products of others to ensure compliance with GAAP, regulatory requirements, and company policies. - - Assisting others in the accounting function with creating and monitoring systematic reports to ensure accurate financial information.
- Assisting others in the accounting department with ‘continuous improvement’ initiative. - - Analyzing manufacturing costs and profitability and reporting results to the Controller and CFO.
- - Maintaining support for complex accounting issues.
- Assisting the Controller with monitoring SOX compliance throughout the organization as well as maintaining and updating all SOX documents. Assisting process owners with walk-through documentation and updates.
-Assisting the Controller by providing support to both internal and external auditors throughout the year.
-Analyzing inventory transactions and providing accurate and timely support to management to make timely adjustments to inventory records.
- Being an integral part of the physical inventory process, with a focus on process improvement.
- Reviewing labor and overhead standards for accuracy.
- Maintaining/creating company documents as necessary (policies, work instructions, etc.).
- Providing monthly/quarterly/annual reports to others in the company as required.
- Assisting with preparation of documents required for tax reporting as needed.
- Preparing ad hoc financial reports and analysis as needed for a wide range of audiences.
- Providing leadership to others through communication and training.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:- Required Experience
- 4-year degree in Accounting or Finance
- 2 years of relevant accounting experience
- Self-motivated, enthusiastic, proactive, deadline-oriented, organized and a team player at all times.
The following experience, while not required, will be a plus:
- CPA or CPA candidate
- Supervisory experience
- Manufacturing experience
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word & PowerPoint
- SOX and/or audit experience
- Experience with ERP systems
- Experience in forecasting/budgeting
