Role Description
This key role involves leading the formulation, process development, and scale-up of silicone-coated release liners for pressure-sensitive lable stock, tape, medical products, and varous industrial applications.
We are looking for a technical leader who can translate lab and pilot-scale successes into full-scale production, drive product performance, optimize costs, and foster new business growth through cross-functional collaboration and people management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drive product development, primarily focusing on silicone coatings and base substrates, with an emphasis on solventless systems.
- Manage the entire product lifecycle by evaluating requirements and offering informed recommendations to meet customer objectives.
- Scale successful lab and pilot results into robust, full-scale production processes.
- Design and execute lab and pilot coating trails to optimize cure profiles, anchorage, and release performance.
- Evaluate and qualify new raw materials, coatings, and substrates to enhance quality and reduce costs.
- Maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including formulation records and test data, ensuring reproducibility and traceability.
- Act as the company's subject matter expert in silicone polymer chemistry and release systems.
- Collaborate with Sales, Operations, ad Quality teams to troubleshoot customer issues, support on-site trials, and implement continuous process improvements.
- Manage Product Development from initial concept through commercialization, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Mentor Technical and Quality technicians, ensuring a safe and organized laboratory environment.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a closely related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in formulation and process development within silicone release liners, coatings, adhesives, or related industries.
- Demonstrated expertise in silicone polymer chemistry and various coating technologies (e.g., thermal cure, UV, solventless systems).
- Hands-on experience operating and testing with lab/pilot coating equipment (e.g., release testers, cure ovens, pilot coater).
- Exceptional skills in project management, data analysis, troubleshooting, and communication.
Preferred Experience:
- Experience with paper substrates (PEK, CCK, SCK) and pressure-sensitive label/liner products.
- Familiarity with manufacturing conversion and scale-up processes.
- Previous experience in a people-management or team-lead capacity.
