We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Research and Data Analyst for a long-term, remote contract position with a state government agency. The successful candidate will perform complex statistical, financial, and operational data analysis to support critical management decisions. You will be responsible for identifying trends, improving operational efficiency, and providing strategic analysis.
Please note: This role requires an in-person interview in Atlanta, GA. The selected candidate must also be available to pick up equipment and complete a drug test onsite in Atlanta on the first day of the engagement.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Extract and analyze primary data from Oracle Databases using complex SQL queries.
- Interpret data and analyze results using statistical techniques to provide ongoing reports.
- Identify, compile, and 'clean' complex data sets to prepare them for research projects.
- Analyze trends and patterns to provide actionable insights and recommendations.
- Oversee evaluation and research projects, collaborating with internal leadership and external partners.
- Develop and monitor internal and external data requests, ensuring timely and accurate fulfillment.
- Manage, summarize, and analyze both quantitative and qualitative data.
- Create compelling data visualization dashboards and reports using Tableau.
- Summarize and clearly explain research findings and their implications to stakeholders.
Required Qualifications:
- Must meet one of the following criteria:
- A Bachelor's degree in a related field AND two (2) years in a related lead or supervisory role.
- An Associate's degree in a related field AND four (4) years of related experience, with two (2) years in a lead or supervisory role.
- Two (2) years of experience as an IT Business Analyst or in an equivalent position.
- A minimum of five (5) years of experience with reporting packages (e.g., Business Objects), databases (SQL, Oracle), and programming (XML, Javascript, or ETL frameworks).
- A minimum of three (3) years of experience accessing and extracting data from organizational or institutional databases.
- Proven proficiency in writing queries, authoring reports, and presenting findings.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, and analyze significant amounts of information with high attention to detail and accuracy.
- Two (2) or more years of relevant work experience in the Criminal Justice field and/or Data Management/Analysis.
- Experience in data visualization software such as Tableau.
