About the Role:
We are currently seeking highly organized and professional General Clerk III candidates to provide staff augmentation support for our client, the District of Columbia Department of Employment Services (DOES).
Working specifically within the Office of Youth Programs (OYP), you will provide essential administrative support to teams helping DC youth (ages 14-24) develop work habits and occupational skills. This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience in a government setting while supporting a meaningful community mission.
Key Responsibilities:
- Document Preparation: Draft, write, and edit professional memos, briefs, proposals, and other organizational documents.
- Data Management: Transfer information from reports and files into master code sheets, ledgers, journals, and electronic recordkeeping systems.
- Records Management: Maintain physical and digital filing systems in accordance with departmental policies; identify and retrieve materials for research as needed.
- Communication: Answer telephones, convey messages to staff, and manage incoming/outgoing mail.
- Administrative Support: Manage office supplies, operate standard office equipment, and run occasional errands within the office.
- Technology Use: Utilize Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) for data entry and document creation.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent (Required).
- Experience: Minimum of two (2) years of relevant administrative or clerical experience.
- Skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Strong typing and data entry skills.
- Extensive experience organizing and prioritizing workflows to meet deadlines.
- Ability to write professional business documents.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with Salesforce, SharePoint, Quickbase, or electronic calendar management is a plus.
- Prior experience working with a government agency or in a youth services environment.
Work Environment:
- Setting: Professional office environment (on-site).
- Physical Demands: Primarily sedentary; however, the role requires some walking and bending to perform file maintenance tasks.
