About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated Event Setup Crew Member to join our government client’s team in Indianapolis. This role is vital to the smooth operation of a prestigious conference center and government facility, particularly during the busy Legislative Session. You will be responsible for the physical setup of conference rooms, operating audio/visual equipment, and maintaining the cleanliness and presentation of the facility. Essential Responsibilities
- Lead the set-up of specialized sound, audio, visual, and live streaming equipment including mixers, monitors, DVD players, and podiums.
- Troubleshoot issues with sound and audio equipment and perform necessary repairs to ensure full functionality.
- Think creatively to solve problems quickly with limited resources during events.
- Review worksheets to organize timelines and plan room setups for daily activities.
- Assess conference rooms to determine equipment needs and prepare the space accordingly.
- Unlock doors, turn on lights, and open blinds to prepare rooms for use.
- Transport unnecessary equipment and furniture to the storeroom.
- Set up all essential equipment and furniture exactly as requested.
- Ensure conference rooms and meeting areas are presentable by cleaning, vacuuming, dusting, and removing trash.
- Handle facility events efficiently with a strong awareness of the location and protocol.
- Remove customer trash and catering debris to keep the event space clean.
- Reset event spaces within required timeframes, especially during the Legislative Session.
- Follow specific written and verbal instructions and adhere to standardized practices.
- Assume the role of leading other staff in the absence of supervision.
- Clean carpets as scheduled or needed using a commercial-grade floor scrubber.
- Assist the Supervisor in maintaining an inventory of supplies and performing physical counts.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Practical knowledge of audio, video, and sound equipment.
- Experience with commercial-grade cleaning equipment used for event centers.
- Ability to complete manual tasks involving constant standing, walking, lifting, bending, twisting, and stooping.
- Ability to lift and move furniture and equipment (pushing/pulling flatbed carts).
- Ability to follow specific instructions orally and in writing.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Must possess outstanding customer service skills for interacting with visitors.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including weekends (approx. 2 times per month) and early mornings (7 am start).
