JOB TITLE: INSTRUCTIONAL PROGRAM SPECIALIST - CTE

CALENDAR: 0222 (10.5 MONTH)

SALARY: CERTIFIED SCHEDULE

 

 

Job Role:

The CTE Instructional Program Specialist role requires programmatic and instructional expertise in Career & Technical Education programs. The focus of the position is to develop and coordinate the variety of support mechanisms available to teachers and school sites related to each of the CTE curricular areas. The CTE instructional Program Specialist(s) will provide support in the areas of curriculum writing, district and state CTE assessments, industry certifications, Career & Technical Student Organizations (CTSO), mentoring teachers, and additional CTE initiatives as needed.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • CTE certified with a minimum of 5 years of teaching experience, with at least 3 years of teaching in a CTE program. Experience as a teacher teaching in the program area(s):  Culinary Arts, Early Childhood Education, Education Professions.
  • Appropriate CTE certifications for the program area(s): 
  • Standard Career and Technical Education Family Consumer Sciences -or-
  • Standard Specialized Career and Technical Family Consumer Sciences -or-
  • Standard Career and Technical Education: Education and Training -or-
  • Standard Specialized Career and Technical Education: Education and Training.
  • Ability to plan, develop, and present information/training for adult learners.
  • Effective in communication, planning, organization, presentation, and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of effective instructional strategies and research-based best practices.
  • Knowledge and understanding of effective strategies for instructing diverse learners.
  • Demonstrates proficiency with technology, including presentation equipment, word processing, and desktop publishing, and a willingness to innovatively apply technology appropriately and effectively in the content area.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and skills in areas such as mentoring and peer coaching; classroom management; alignment of curriculum, instruction, and assessment.
  • Exemplary professional relationship with teachers, administrators, parents, students, and the community.

 

Core Job Functions:

  • Utilize content and instructional expertise as well as professional development leadership to achieve goals aligned to the district's strategic plan.
  • Work with CTE teachers to provide support in the classroom, including but not limited to mentoring, curriculum development, instructional support, student certification, CTE assessments, and CTSO development.
  • Serve as a model by demonstrating lessons in the classroom when appropriate.
  • Work with other district specialists to design training for teachers in the use of district materials, curricula, CTE State Standards, and CTE assessments.
  • Assists district and site-level administrators, teachers, and other staff as necessary to understand content area needs, innovations, strategies, etc.
  • Assist in coordinating CTE teachers at junior high schools with curriculum development and instruction support.
  • Assist in coordinating vertical alignment between high school and junior high teachers in related CTE programs.
  • Provide professional development, including but not limited to integrating math, science, reading, and writing into CTE classroom instruction.
  • Assist the CTE director in ensuring all CTE programs meet ADE, Perkins, and CTED program requirements.
  • Interpret data from a variety of sources and use said data to drive instruction and assist teacher program development.
  • Assist CTE Intern coordinators with outreach and coordinate potential student internship opportunities.
  • Acts as liaison between institutions of higher education, business partners, and community groups as related to the specific content area.
  • Assist the CTE director in coordinating CTE awards, such as the CTE Presidential Scholar and ACTE awards and scholarships.
  • Completes other duties as assigned.
