JOB TITLE: CTE MEDICAL PROFESSIONALS TEACHER

CALENDAR: 1960 FOR NEW HIRES OR 1961 FOR RETURNING TEACHERS

SALARY: CERTIFIED TEACHER


Job Goal:

The primary goal of the program is to prepare students for careers in healthcare by providing rigorous, hands-on instruction in medical knowledge, patient care skills, and professional ethics that align with industry standards. The teacher fosters critical thinking, safety, and employability through real-world learning experiences, certifications, and participation in health science.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's/Master's Degree
  • AZ Teaching Certificate - Standard CTE Health Careers or Standard Specialized CTE Health Careers
  • AZ IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
  • Appropriately Certified
  • The individual must meet the following qualifications per the AZ State Board of Nursing:
  • Hold a current, registered nurse license that is active and in good standing under A.R.S. Title 32, Chapter 15, and provide documentation of a minimum of one year full-time or 1500 hours of employment providing direct care as a registered nurse in any setting.

At minimum, one of the following:

  • Successful completion of a three-semester credit course on adult teaching and learning concepts offered by an accredited post-secondary education institution
  • Completion of 40 hour continuing education program in adult teaching and learning concepts that was awarded continuing education credit by an accredited organization
  • One Year of full-time or 1500 hours of experience teaching adults as a faculty member or clinical educator
  • One year or 1500 hours of experience supervising nursing assistants, either in addition to or concurrent with the one year of experience required in subsection (C)(1)(a).

Core Job Functions:

  • Communicates learning goals to students in a well-planned, organized manner using clear and precise language
  • Prepare and deliver instruction appropriate to the student population, including curriculum that addresses learning styles, abilities, interests, behavior problems, and students with special needs
  • Create lesson plans describing daily learning experiences correlated with approved curriculum and State and District standards
  • Use available technology to enhance learning
  • Use district and state assessment data to improve instruction and place students in appropriate instructional and intervention programs
  • Facilitate instruction based on current research-based best practices
  • Effectively implement Individual Education Plans
  • Establish classroom routines to promote a positive environment conducive to effective instruction
  • Participate in team reviews concerning the academic progress of low-performing students
  • Document and resolve issues related to student behavior problems and attendance
  • Reflect on teaching and strive to improve professional competence
  • Assume legal responsibility for the supervision of students on school property or in attendance at school-sponsored activities
  • Take necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities
  • Maintain accurate, complete, legible, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation
  • Participate inthe intervention process at sites
  • Participate in school-wide events, scheduled meetings, and parent conferences
  • Participate in school and District initiatives
  • Assume individual responsibilities which may be assigned by the principal/supervisor and which may relate to committee work, student activities, student supervision, or other planning and professional assignments
  • Meet any additional specific job requirements as indicated by the District or school site

Physical Requirements:

  • Positions in this classification often require physical activities such as stooping, kneeling, crouching, standing, walking, and sitting.
  • The job involves finger or manual dexterity, repetitive finger motion, speaking, hearing, seeing (with correction), and focusing ability.
  • Employees may be exposed to travel, odors, dust, poor ventilation, workspace restrictions, and loud noises.
