The Certified Nursing Assistant is responsible for assisting patients with personal care, monitoring vital signs, supporting mobility, and reporting changes in patients' conditions. The CNA works as part of the healthcare team to provide compassionate, high-quality care.
Key Responsibilities
Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
Help patients with eating and drinking as needed.
Transfer and reposition patients safely using proper lifting techniques.
Take and record vital signs such as temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and respiration.
Observe and report changes in patients' physical or emotional condition to the nursing staff.
Maintain accurate patient records and documentation.
Keep patient rooms clean, organized, and stocked with necessary supplies.
Assist with feeding, ambulation, and range-of-motion exercises.
Respond promptly to patient call lights and requests.
Follow infection control, safety, and HIPAA guidelines.
Provide emotional support and companionship to patients and their families.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED.
Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification.
Current CPR/BLS certification (preferred or required by employer).
Ability to lift, move, and assist patients safely.
