Pay Rate: $25.00 per hour (non-exempt)

Reports To: Site/Operations Supervisor

Schedule: Full-time; evenings and holidays as needed based on operational demand

Position Summary

The Utility employee supports daily operations by washing, fueling, and performing minor servicing on fleet vehicles; cleaning and maintaining facilities; assisting the fleet maintenance team; and completing required daily reports. This position works primarily in a shop or yard environment and outdoors in various weather conditions.

Essential Duties

The Utility role is responsible for washing, fueling, and completing light service tasks on fleet vehicles. The position includes cleaning and maintaining buildings and grounds, performing routine facility upkeep and basic repairs, and supporting fleet maintenance through vehicle staging, supply organization, and general shop assistance. The Utility employee completes accurate daily reports, adheres to all safety procedures, uses required PPE, and maintains a clean and hazard-free work environment. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies

This role requires strong communication skills, professionalism, and reliability, along with the ability to remain organized, meet deadlines, and maintain confidentiality. The employee must be able to work flexible hours and comply with all CCD and RTD policies.

Education and Experience Requirements

A high school diploma or GED and a valid driver’s license with an acceptable MVR are required. Previous experience in utility work, vehicle servicing, cleaning, or facility maintenance is preferred.

Working Conditions

Work is performed primarily in shop, yard, and outdoor environments with exposure to weather, noise, and cleaning or vehicle-related fluids. Some office tasks may be required for reporting or email communication. Evening or weekend work may be necessary depending on operational needs.

Physical Requirements

The role requires standing, walking, bending, and moving between shop or yard areas throughout the shift. The employee must be able to operate pressure washers, hoses, fuel nozzles, and standard cleaning and maintenance tools. Visual acuity is required for inspections and basic computer tasks. Light lifting and carrying of tools or supplies is expected. The employee must be able to drive company or rental vehicles as needed.

Additional Requirements

Employment requires successful completion of a background check, drug screening, and annual MVR review, with ongoing employment contingent on acceptable results. The employee must follow all site safety procedures and PPE requirements. RTD may also require additional or random screenings as part of contract compliance.
