Description:Position Title: Sanitor (Sanitation Specialist)
Department: FSQA
Reports To: FSQA Leadership
Position Summary

The Sanitor is responsible for performing routine cleaning and sanitation of production areas, tools, equipment, and facility supplies. This position also helps maintain the cleanliness of warehouse areas, outdoor premises, and welfare areas as needed. The Sanitor works closely with production and FSQA leadership to support and continuously improve facility cleanliness, sanitation programs, and food safety standards

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with all company and regulatory standards, including GMP’s, SSOP’s, Lock Out/Tag Out and recognized safety standards.
  • Wet and dry cleaning duties of production lines; adhere to Daily Cleaning Schedule and Master Sanitation Schedule
  • Maintain the facility and surrounding grounds in compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and recognized safety standards.
  • Perform detailed cleaning and sanitation of production and processing areas, ensuring all equipment is cleaned and sanitized according to established procedures and standards.
  • Monitor condition of cleanliness of food contact utensils, vessels, equipment, and surrounding floor areas
  • Monitor storage and upkeep of food safety apparel – gloves, hairnets and smocks.
  • Helps control inventory of cleaning supplies and maintains good order of the chemical cage
  • Removal of trash from operations to outside disposal area
  • Protect packaging materials and food contact surfaces from adulteration of chemical, physical and biological agents
  • Operate cleaning and sanitation equipment, including but not limited to floor scrubbers, foam cleaning systems, vacuums, and other sanitation tools. Forklift is a plus
  • Clean production equipment, including the disassembly and reassembly of components as required.
  • Accurately complete and maintain cleaning records in accordance with the Master Cleaning and Daily Sanitation Schedules or checklists ensuring they are completed in a timely manner.
  • Safely handle cleaning chemicals and follow all label instructions, application procedures, and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, ensuring all equipment and materials are properly stored.
  • Assist Pest Control program and ensure no evidence of infestation
  • Help facilitate the process of proper destruction of finished products and ingredients, biohazardous materials and raw materials ensuring proper procedures are followed.
  • Watch for and clean contamination from overhead condition
  • Perform miscellaneous duties and special projects as necessary


Requirements:

Physical Requirements

Manufacturing plant environment with frequent standing for extended periods of time; walking; lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 60 pounds unassisted; occasional bending, crouching, stooping, and reaching.

Ability to work at elevated heights when required.

Ability to work in varying environmental conditions, including hot, cold, wet, and humid environments.

Comfortable wearing required protective clothing and equipment, including rain suits and other PPE.

Qualifications and Required Skills

Successfully complete and demonstrate understanding of sanitation training for all assigned areas.

Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new equipment, processes, and work environments.

Dependable with a strong attendance record and willingness to work weekends, evenings, and night shifts as needed.

Minimum of one (1) year of industrial, manufacturing, sanitation, or related work experience preferred.

Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and effectively as part of a team.

Ability to operate equipment safely and within established specifications.

Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high sanitation and food safety standards.

Ability to work overtime, flex hours, including weekends for projects as necessary.
