Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Chimney Mason Apprentice / Tender to join our specialty construction team and enter into our apprenticeship training program. The ideal candidate will enjoy both our classroom and our hands on training and while working along side our experience skilled masons in various tasks related to chimney and fireplace work, ensuring that projects are completed efficiently and to the highest standards. This position requires a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic environment. Room for advancement to lead chimney mason, installer or service technician possible depending on your efforts.
Responsibilities
- Assist masons with the preparation and mixing of mortar and concrete while learning the chimney masonry and fireplace Trade.
- Load and unload materials such as bricks, blocks, and stones.
- Set up ladders and use man lifts using professional safety standards and sop’s.
- Maintain a clean and organized job site by removing debris and ensuring tools are stored and cleaned properly.
- Operate hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
- Support our specialty construction team in tasks related to chimney masonry, repairs, flashing, waterproofing and appliance service. The position also involves the installations of chimney caps, dampers, decorative wood / gas / electric fireplaces and stoves that heat and provide ambiance to our customers homes.
- Learn and train using safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment at all times.
Qualifications
- Experience or knowledge in masonry, concrete finishing, chimneys, fireplace installations, roofing, HVAC or related construction fields is preferred but not necessary for certain otherwise physically fit and qualified applicants.
- Roofing experience and or necessary agility and proper physical conditioning to use and climb ladders a must.
- Familiarity with construction estimating techniques is a plus.
- Ability to work with hand tools and power tools effectively.
- Skills in trim carpentry or welding are advantageous but not required.
- Strong physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy materials as needed.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.
- A commitment to safety practices on the job site.
