Information Technology Technician Needed

Location: Champlain Valley School District

The Champlain Valley School District (CVSD) is seeking a full-year, full-time Information Technology (IT) Technician. We are looking for a proactive, team-oriented IT professional to assist with setting up, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing Chromebooks, computers, and peripherals.

This position is critical to ensuring a secure, high-performance, and reliable digital learning environment that maximizes instructional effectiveness and operational efficiency for our students and staff. The CVSD Technology Department consists of the Director of Network Services, 2 Network Administrators, and 5 Technology Support Specialists, based at the schools. As a team, we support 5 elementary schools and CVU High School with a total of about 3,900 students and 725 faculty and staff. The district is 1:1 with Chromebooks for grades 1-12, shared iPads for Kindergarten, and the staff uses a mix of Chromebooks and Windows devices. Classrooms are a mix of projectors, SmartBoards, and interactive or non-interactive TVs. Primary Responsibilities

• Support the 1:1 Chromebook program, enrolling, diagnosing, and maintaining Chromebooks within the CVSD Domain.
• Install, connect, and test computer workstations, printers, and other peripherals, including projectors, document cameras, smartboards, and TVs.
• Troubleshoot Windows 11 operating systems, updates, and related software for the school network.
• Diagnose hardware problems, work with vendor tech support as needed, and resolve tickets posted to the CVSD Help Desk.
• Support students, faculty, and staff on technical issues while participating in school-level and CVSD-level meetings and committees as required.
• Assist the Network Administrators in the troubleshooting of the school network, including switches, printers, network connectivity, and user accounts.
• Maintain an accurate and up-to-date inventory of all district hardware and equipment.
• Develop strong working relationships and collaborate proactively with district staff, administrators, and the core technology team.
• Other duties as assigned.

The Ideal Candidate Will Possess

• Education, experience, or a strong interest in Windows 11 operating systems, Chromebooks, Gmail, and other Google Applications.
• Demonstrated experience or interest in software installation, printer installation/support, and basic network infrastructure (on-the-job training provided).
• Familiarity with classroom technology integration, including interactive TVs, SmartBoards, projectors, and shared iPads.
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with both children and adults.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot hardware issues and arrive at logical, common-sense decisions.
• Ability to translate "tech-speak" into plain English for a variety of audiences, including students, faculty, and administrators.
• High levels of organization, self-control in high-stress situations, adaptability, and strong attention to detail.
