Closing Team Lead

Champions Funding, a leading wholesale Non-QM mortgage lender, is seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Closing Team Lead to oversee closing and funding functions. This role is responsible for managing all Closers and Funders, ensuring that loans are closed and funded accurately and efficiently, in compliance with company policies and timelines.

The Closing Team Lead works closely with Disclosures, Underwriting, Capital Markets, and Operations to ensure a seamless end-to-end closing and funding process within Champions Funding’s Non-QM platform.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage all Closers and Funders, providing coaching, mentorship, and performance oversight.
• Oversee daily closing and funding operations to ensure loans are executed accurately and on time.
• Monitor pipeline activity, closing timelines, and funding schedules to meet service level expectations.
• Review complex or high-priority loan files to ensure compliance with company policies and documentation standards.
• Coordinate with Disclosures, Underwriting, Capital Markets, and Operations to resolve issues and ensure smooth loan progression.
• Ensure all closing packages and funding conditions are complete and accurate prior to disbursement.
• Manage escalations related to closing delays, funding issues, or documentation discrepancies.
• Track and report on team performance metrics, including turn times, productivity, and quality.
• Identify process improvement opportunities to enhance efficiency and reduce errors.
• Support audit, compliance, and quality control initiatives by maintaining accurate documentation and reporting.

Requirements

• Required: 5 years of experience in mortgage closing and funding, with at least 2 years in a leadership or team lead role.
• Strong knowledge of closing processes, loan documentation, and funding requirements, preferably in Non-QM lending.
• Proven experience managing teams in a high-volume production environment.
• Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong leadership, communication, and team development abilities.
• Experience with Encompass LOS and mortgage technology platforms required.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or related field preferred.
