TITLE: Family Education Facilitator 2
CLASSIFICATION: Part-time, non-exempt. Schedule is 25 hours per week.
SUMMARY:
The Family Education Facilitator is primarily responsible for the delivery and instruction of developmentally appropriate activities to
families with young children and facilitation of family workshops and support groups. This position is expected to act with periodic
supervision and reports to the Program Director.
Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
DUTIES:
- Plan and deliver child developmental playgroups with caregivers and their children to promote adult/child interaction,
according to program guidelines, and that promote positive adult/child interaction, child development, and early childhood
education to caregivers. This includes but is not limited to:
o Prepare for playgroups by creating activities and positive shared experiences with available curriculum materials.
o Organize & maintain program supplies for efficient access and inventory.
o Complete accurate and timely data collection in support of program’s reporting, contract, grant, accreditation, and
agency requirements.
- Facilitate New Mom’s support group, Family Matters workshop, and other parent meetings. Specific functions include
preparing for groups, providing a warm and welcoming environment for participants, facilitating the group experience in
line with program expectations, and cleaning up after group.
- Assist with social media content and posting.
- Assist with coordination of outreach and community events.
- Attend staff meetings, on-going in-service training and reflective supervision as required.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
- A minimum of an associate degree in social/behavioral sciences, early childhood development, education, or related field.
- At least three years of relevant experience. Experience may substitute for associate degree.
- Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills (e.g., nonjudgmental, objective, reflective, empathetic, patient,
tactful).
- Sensitivity to the cultural and socioeconomic characteristics of the population that Champions for Children serves.
- Ability to work independently and be self-motivated.
- Reliable vehicle, active auto insurance and valid Florida driver license may be required if some local travel is needed.
- Successful completion of a Level 2 criminal background check, motor vehicle records check and drug screen.
- Ability to walk, stand, climb stairs, kneel, sit on floor, bend, reach, and manipulate objects; move materials up to 10 pounds
on a regular basis; infrequently requiring moving materials weighing up to 20 pounds.
