Requirements
Lead the Team
- Supervise, schedule, and train compound department operators and technicians in both English and Spanish as needed.
- Assign daily tasks and set production priorities based on order volume and deadlines.
- Coach and evaluate staff performance, addressing issues and supporting growth.
- Oversee mixing/blending of raw chemicals and ingredients, ensuring formulas and batch records are followed accurately.
- Manage filtration and fluid processing operations, tracking filter usage, vessel performance, and associated costs.
- Build and manage bulk filling schedules to meet customer and production deadlines.
- Oversee liquid raw material ordering, monitoring inventory levels and managing supplier relationships.
- Enforce safety protocols, PPE requirements, and proper chemical handling procedures department-wide.
- Investigate and resolve quality issues, process inconsistencies, and equipment problems.
- Maintain compliance with GMP, environmental, and regulatory standards.
- Track department costs including raw materials, filtration supplies, and labor.
- Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities across mixing, filtration, filling, and ordering.
- Report on production, cost, and performance metrics to plant leadership.
- 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing or chemical processing environment, including compounding, mixing, or blending.
- 1-2 years of supervisory or lead experience.
- Solid understanding of filtration systems, fluid processing, and batch production.
- Experience with inventory management and supplier/vendor ordering.
- Comfortable with basic computer applications (spreadsheets, production/inventory software).
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Working knowledge of workplace safety regulations and chemical handling requirements (SDS, PPE, GMP).
- High school diploma or GED required; associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
Minimum Required
- High school diploma or GED.
- Associate's degree in Chemical Technology, Process Technology, or Industrial Technology.
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Industrial/Manufacturing Engineering (a plus, not required).
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 safety certification.
- HAZWOPER or hazardous materials handling certification.
- Forklift / powered industrial truck (PIT) certification.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to walk, stand, and move throughout the production floor for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
- Ability to wear required PPE (gloves, safety glasses, respirators, etc.) as needed.
- Comfortable working around chemical odors, noise, and varying temperatures typical of a production floor.
