Position Summary: We are seeking an experienced, results-driven Newspaper Publisher to oversee daily operations, lead a team, manage printing plant operations, and ensure the timely, accurate, and cost-effective production and distribution of our publications. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong business, financial, and operational management skills who can drive team performance, improve efficiency, and support the organization's long-term growth.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Leadership and Team Management: Lead department managers and employees, establish performance goals, oversee training, and promote accountability, teamwork, and employee development.
- Printing Plant Operations: Assist in daily plant operations, production schedules, staffing, equipment maintenance, print quality, safety, and timely delivery of publications.
- Financial Management: Manage budgets, monitor revenue and expenses, control costs, and identify opportunities to improve profitability and operational efficiency.
- Publication and Distribution: Coordinate editorial, advertising, production, and distribution teams to meet deadlines and maintain quality standards.
- Strategic Planning: Develop business strategies, identify growth opportunities, improve processes, and maintain relationships with advertisers, vendors, and community partners.
- Performance Oversight: Monitor business performance, address operational challenges, and report results and strategic initiatives to executive management.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Business, Management, Communications, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
- Minimum of 5 years of management experience, preferably in publishing, printing, or a related industry.
- Demonstrated experience leading teams and overseeing production or plant operations.
- Strong budgeting, financial management, and cost-control skills.
- Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and meet strict deadlines.
- Knowledge of printing processes, equipment, and workplace safety practices.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and business management software.
