Peterson Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center is seeking a detail-oriented Medical Records Coder / Medical Records Coordinator to support the accuracy, organization, and regulatory compliance of resident medical records within our skilled nursing facility.

This position plays an important role in maintaining documentation integrity, supporting the clinical team, and ensuring records remain accurate and survey-ready.

This is a strong opportunity for someone with healthcare documentation experience who enjoys working closely with nursing leadership and contributing to quality resident care behind the scenes.

Your Role

• Maintain accuracy and organization of resident medical records

• Assist with diagnosis coding and documentation review processes

• Support the MDS and clinical teams with record verification as needed

• Monitor physician orders, signatures, and completion timelines

• Track chart deficiencies and follow up with appropriate staff

• Prepare records for audits, surveys, and internal reviews

• Ensure compliance with federal and state documentation requirements

• Help maintain survey-ready documentation systems across the facility

Qualifications

• Experience in medical records, health information management, or healthcare documentation required

• Skilled nursing or long-term care experience preferred

• Familiarity with diagnosis coding processes preferred

• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a team-based environment

• Professional communication skills with interdisciplinary leadership teams
