Duties
- Perform on the piano and/or organ during weekly worship services and possible special events.
- Prepare and rehearse music selections that align with liturgical themes and seasonal observances.
- Collaborate with pastors, choir directors, and other musicians to select appropriate repertoire that enhances worship experiences.
- Maintain and care for church musical instruments, ensuring they are in optimal condition for performances.
- Lead or support congregational singing by providing clear cues and maintaining musical tempo throughout services.
- Adapt to various musical styles, including traditional hymns, contemporary worship songs, and special performances such as theater or choir pieces when needed.
Skills
- Proficiency in playing the piano and/or organ with excellent technical skill and musical sensitivity.
- Strong understanding of sacred music traditions across various denominations.
- Ability to read sheet music fluently and adapt arrangements as necessary.
- Knowledge of theater-style performance techniques is a plus for special productions or community outreach events.
