Dental Assistant

Duties

• Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing dental instruments, setting up necessary equipment, and ensuring all materials are ready for procedures.
• Assist dentists chairside during various treatments including general dentistry, oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry.
• Take and develop dental X-rays using dental x-ray equipment and ensure accurate medical imaging records are maintained in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
• Manage patient management software to schedule appointments, update medical records, and facilitate efficient patient flow.
• Provide patient care by explaining procedures, and addressing patient questions with professionalism and empathy.
• Follow infection prevention management protocols including aseptic techniques and dental sterilization procedures to maintain a safe clinical environment.
• Support administrative tasks such as greeting patients as a dental receptionist, managing medical documentation, and ensuring compliance with clinical confidentiality policies.

Requirements

• Proven experience working in a dental clinic environment with knowledge of dental assisting practices and clinical procedures would be preferable but not a deal breaker.
• Familiarity with EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft for accurate record keeping.
• Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and medical terminology relevant to dentistry.
• Proficiency in operating dental equipment including 3D scanners, dental sterilizers, X-ray machines, and other clinical tools.
• Ability to perform dental instrument processing efficiently while adhering to infection control standards.
• Experience in chairside assisting techniques such as four-handed dentistry and oral surgery support.
• Knowledge of healthcare infection prevention and control expertise including aseptic technique and medical documentation standards.
• Excellent communication skills as a dental receptionist or patient management software user to ensure seamless patient experiences.
