Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role located in Houma, LA, for a Tugboat Mate at Champagne Energy & Environmental Solutions. The Tugboat Mate will assist the captain with navigation, vessel maintenance, and operational tasks to ensure the safe operation of the tugboat during assignments. Responsibilities include providing support in ensuring the vessel complies with safety regulations, managing towing operations, monitoring vessel systems, and supervising crew members during work activities. The Tugboat Mate will also assist in record-keeping and inspecting equipment to maintain operational efficiency and safety compliance.
Qualifications
- Proficiency in navigation and vessel operations, including experience with GPS and radar systems
- Understanding of safety protocols, towing equipment, and marine regulations
- Strong team management and leadership abilities, including supervising crew members effectively
- Mechanical aptitude to inspect and maintain vessel systems and equipment
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Valid U.S. Coast Guard Mate’s license or equivalent maritime certification
- Experience working on tugboats or similar maritime vessels is highly preferred
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with diverse crews
- Commitment to safety and environmental stewardship
